When Ai Gets in the Way: Client vs Professional

We all know the benefits of quick answers. A message typed, a reply in seconds, ideas flowing. But when we receive CVs, new contacts reach out, or even inquiries written by AI, a subtle distance appears. It feels like a thin glass wall between two real humans trying to connect.

Words Without Breath

Ever had a message come back that was technically right but felt empty?

Maybe polite, maybe helpful, maybe structured perfectly yet you sit there thinking:

“Did they really understand me?”

When language is polished by an algorithm it loses the small things:

  • hesitation: the tiny imperfections that make communication human

  • surprise: a funny typo that makes you smile

  • the little slip that shows someone was listening: like replying to the detail you mentioned about your child’s drawing

Language Gaps Feel Wider

This is even more real when there is a language gap. When one person speaks Greek and the other English, or any other mix, those tiny nuances are even more noticeable.

When you receive a message that could have been written by anyone, it does not feel like it was written for you. This is a matter of trust.

Using Tools Without Losing Realness

If you were wondering… yes, we do use ChatGPT. But only to help with clarity or speed. We never change the actual meaning of what we write just to “impress.” (You wish, AI)

Even if we are almost native speakers, it does not mean we are perfect. For example, when you ask a casual Greek person how they have been, they might respond: “I’m fine, thank you” 😆 instead of something more casual, and this might feel distant. That is just how it translates from Greek.

When using GPT, we try to make the words informal as if they were just translated, keeping the tone natural without losing our personality. Human, natural, just like this post.

Trust Is Not About Accurate Wording

Professionals can be factually correct and still feel distant. Trust grows when someone responds like they saw you or when there is a hint of personality and care behind the sentences. AI cannot do this. At least not yet.
