Salt & Pepper was already theirs.
Quite literally. Vasilis is the tall one. Pepper, and apparently a firm believer that a steak can always take a little more of it. Ioanna is smaller, lighter and, on this particular day, dressed entirely in white. Salt.
The resemblance had been obvious enough to give their fashion brand its name long before we arrived.
Then they had a daughter.
And Salt & Pepper acquired Spice.
We already knew their little girl, having designed her baptism some years earlier. By the time Ioanna and Vasilis decided to get married, she had changed the composition of the family enough to earn her place in the name.
Salt, Pepper & Spice.
And suddenly we had a whole pantry to work with.Himalayan salt, black pepper, herbs and spices moved from paper to table, from flavour to scent. Red, green, black and warm neutrals followed, with small wrapped boxes, pine and eucalyptus appearing between glass, candlelight and long tables.
But Block 33 could take much more than small gestures.
Against its raw brick and industrial scale, everything grew. Pines reached three metres. Candlelight multiplied across the walls. Red became sharper, green became deeper and the intimacy of the original idea found itself inside something much bigger.
That contrast suited them.
A fashion reference without a fashion theme. Christmas without the expected nostalgia. A family story that could begin with salt, pepper and a little girl, then end under stage lights with a live band and considerably less interest in behaving itself.
Salt & Pepper had always been Ioanna and Vasilis.
Spice changed the recipe.
